Marianne Granpré Molière (1947) worked for 8 years at the studio "Het Molenpad" in Amsterdam with painter musician Michiel Czn. Dhont. Since 2001 she works as an independent artist.

"In fact, I had my first exhibitions too early, was too insecure and could not take full responsibility for my work. The years after my first exhibitions I needed to study and grow. Lessons in drawing and painting from a model followed and also a period in which I could not paint at all. Not an easy but a very fruitful time.
With the decision to stand on my own feet and to work on canvas as well as on paper, a new creative period had come.
It is important for me to translate my inner world to paper or canvas. A world where the laws of nature cease to exist and the possibilities are infinite. An intuitive feeling process in which the technical aspect plays an important role. The combination of paint, pastel and charcoal, working in different layers and with rice paper and clay.

A painting is "finished" when the
translation has succeeded as subtle as possible. Magical and spiritual influences which are archetypical can find their way out. Simplicity and silence are important themes as well as deeply felt emotions. My paintings have no psychological or analytical meaning, that would be at the expense of spontaneity. The loving feeling when the translation has succeeded gives deep satisfaction and stimulates to go on painting for ever".
